What is Insight Assessment? #
Insight Assessment assesses, measures, and evaluates students’ personal and social competencies. It provides actionable insights for educators and counselors to identify student needs and track progress for individuals and classes.
To utilize the Insight Assessment tool, you must set up classes and student accounts to assess your students. You can add classes within Insight Assessment, or see our Students and Classes help page to manage your classes there!
The survey provides social and personal skill assessments useful for:
- Assessing students’ social and personal competencies
- Measuring students’ progress in achieving these competencies
- Identifying students who may face social or personal challenges
- Recommending QuaverReady lessons to build skills in areas of need
- Evaluating the effectiveness of lessons or interventions
Aggregated data for students can help educators identify lessons that benefit entire classes or schools. School counselors or social workers may use this information for targeted interventions with individual students or small groups.
Access and Navigation #
From your QuaverReady or QuaverMusic dashboard, select the Insight Assessment icon to open the Insight Assessment home page. If you are not seeing Insight Assessment on your dashboard, use the dashboard customization tool to add it to your dashboard.
Choosing an Assessment #
Note that assessments and content are filtered by curriculums, so switching curriculums reloads the app with a different set of assessments.
Upon entering Insight Assessment, you’ll see your survey options, based on who the assessment is about. The options will include some or all of the below, depending on your license:
| Student | Measures a student. Completed by an educator about the student, or by the student about themselves. |
| Educator | Measures an educator. Usually a self-assessment; some are completed by an administrator. |
| Counselor | Measures counseling practice, and is otherwise handled like a student-targeted assessment (it carries a class). |
| School | Measures the school as a whole. One assessment per school, no class or roster involved. |
Choose one, then select Get Started ->
*Some assessments open with View Results rather than Get Started. That means the assessment is view-only for your role — you can read every report it produces, but you cannot assign it or complete it.*
The Navigation Bar #
Once you are past the entry screen, the navigation bar across the top of your screen carries everything you need to move around.
| Classes / School / District | The top-level destinations. Which ones appear depends on your role. Classes will grey out for school- and educator-targeted assessments, because those have no class dimension. |
| Assessment Selection | The clipboard menu in the middle. Switching assessments keeps you on the same page when the page still makes sense for the new assessment, and sends you to that assessment’s home when it doesn’t. |
| School Year Selection | The calendar menu, shown only once your district has data from a prior year. The school year runs 1 July to 30 June. Selecting a past year puts the app into read-only historical mode with a banner to that effect. The selection resets to the current year when you refresh. |
| Help | Opens QuaverEd’s help center in a new tab. |
Classes #
From the Classes page you can organize by class names, start and end dates for each class, the number of students in each class, and by Students Assessed. You can also use the Filter classes… search bar to narrow down your search.
From this screen, you also have the option to Edit Classes and Students by selected the Edit button next to the appropriate class. A pop-up will appear allowing you to edit or delete students, change the class name, as well as the start and end date of the class.
Adding Classes and Managing Rosters #
Classes and students integrate seamlessly between Admin Tools and Insight Assessment. Any classes or students previously set up in Admin Tools will appear in the Insight Assessment and vice versa.
Click the Add Class button at the top of the Insight Assessment home page to open a window where you can enter the class name, start and end dates, and an optional grade level.

Is it possible to edit the questions that in the assessment? It appears that I can’t see the data until I finish the whole assessment and it will take me a while to get through it all.

I believe that the Insight Assessment questionnaires are tailored to fit certain standards and curricula, and so are not editable. There are different assessments depending on who is running the assessment (Educator, Parents, or Student Self-Assessed). I hope this helps! Are we able to administer this assessment multiple times throughout the year in order to measure growth?
