Getting Started with Insight Assessment (Administrators)

What is Insight Assessment? #

Insight Assessment provides a centralized location for collecting, reviewing, and analyzing assessment data to support student success, educator development, and school-wide improvement.

To utilize the Insight Assessment tool, you must set up classes and student accounts to assess your students. You can add classes within Insight Assessment, or see our Students and Classes help page to manage your classes there!

The application includes three assessment categories: Student Assessments, Educator Assessments, and School-wide Assessments. Each category offers tools to gather meaningful information, identify strengths and areas for growth, monitor progress, and make informed decisions that support teaching, learning, and school improvement.

How to Find Insight Assessment #

From your District Admin dashboard, select Insight Assessment to open the Insight Assessment home page.

Note: Available features and student information may vary based on account permissions.

Assessment Types #

Assessments are organized into three categories based on what is being evaluated. The assessments available within each category may vary depending on your license and account permissions. These are the assessments available to educators. Note that assessments and content are filtered by curriculums, so switching curriculums reloads the app with a different set of assessments.

Student Assessments #

Student Assessments provide information about individual students, including their competencies, strengths, and areas for growth.

Important: Only the Educator Assessment of Student Core Competencies generates personalized lesson and intervention recommendations. Other assessment types provide additional information to support educator decision-making.

How Insight Assessment Works #

Insight Assessment provides a streamlined process for administering assessments, reviewing results, and using data to support informed decisions. While specific steps may vary by assessment type, the general process follows four stages.

Select an Assessment #

An assessment is selected from the Student, Educator, or School-wide Assessment categories based on the information needed.

Complete or Assign the Assessment #

Assessments are completed or assigned to the appropriate respondent. Assessment questions, response methods, and available options vary by assessment type.

Review Results #

Assessment results and reports provide insights into strengths, areas for growth, and patterns that may require additional attention.

Take Action #

Assessment results inform instructional planning, professional development, and schoolwide improvement efforts. Depending on the assessment, results may also support progress monitoring and targeted interventions.

Selecting and Navigating Assessments #

Upon opening Insight Assessment, the available assessment options are displayed based on the account’s license and permissions.

To begin, select an assessment category: Student, Educator, or School. Then, choose the desired assessment and click Get Started →

Note: Some assessments display View Results instead of Get Started, indicating view-only access based on account permissions. Results and reports can be reviewed, but the assessment cannot be assigned or completed.

The Navigation Bar #

Once you are past the entry screen, the navigation bar across the top of your screen carries everything you need to move around.
