Teachers can administer many assessments in real-time by displaying questions on devices such as a Smartboard or projector. Students can then select the answers on their laptops or tablets. This feature is called Teacher Guided Mode.
To do so, you must create classes with student accounts. For more information on how to do this, use our Getting Started with Classes page.
Teacher’s Version #
To activate Teacher Guided Mode, select a quiz you would like to use. First, let’s find an assessment in Resource Manager. For this example, we’ll use Beat Assessment from our Musical Elements index.

Once launched, you’ll notice an option to toggle Teacher Guided Mode on or off.

A window with the classes you have already created will appear. Select one from the list to assign it to a particular class, then click “OK” to confirm your selection.

You’ll notice there are instructions displayed on the screen for you to help your students locate the quiz answer sheet from their devices.

Once you click “Start” you’ll see an icon at the top left of screen, indicating that the quiz is ready for students to access via their devices.

Student’s Version #
Students will need to log in to their accounts and then click “Take a Quiz” from their Dashboard. Students in multiple classes will need to select the appropriate class from a list. Then, students will select the quiz name.

Keep in mind the student devices only display the multiple-choice answer options. The teacher’s device will display the questions.
On the last page, there is a message to students that the assessment has ended and a recommendation to look over their answers.
Have students click “Submit” when ready.
heads up! #
Be sure students don’t click “submit” before everyone arrives at the final screen and reviewed their answers.
Reviewing Answers #
After you have confirmed that all your students have submitted their quizzes, click the “Next” arrow one last time to see our “Great job” message for your students.
You can now review the quiz questions and the correct answers by clicking “Review Answers.” Use the arrows to display the questions and answers.
To view specific questions, click “Menu” at the top, then select “Go To…”
The displayed message will indicate the total number of questions on the quiz, and a box where you can enter the desired question number.
Viewing Submissions in Gradebook #
The quiz will be auto-graded, and your students’ scores will appear in your Gradebook as a new assignment. To view this, go to Admin Tools on your dashboard, and then Gradebook. The name of the quiz will appear here, along with the grade based on a 100-point scale.
