QRewards and QuaverNotes

QRewards allows teachers to reward students for positive behaviors by awarding QuaverNotes, a virtual currency that students can redeem for rewards. This system encourages students to develop good habits over time.

QuaverNotes can be earned in a number of ways, including completing assignments, winning contests, and direct rewards from teachers.

QuaverNotes can be awarded and redeemed within each QuaverEd product, but QRewards are product-specific. For example, QuaverNotes earned in QuaverMusic appear only in a student’s QuaverMusic account, even if they also use QuaverReady.

Getting Started with QRewards

Before using QRewards, ensure that:

  1. Your classes and student accounts are set up. If your district is rostered, this is done automatically. If not, you may need to create student accounts manually.
  2. You have reviewed the default Desired Behaviors and Reward Categories, which can be customized to fit your classroom needs.

The QRewards Dashboard, seen below, allows you to navigate all sections of QRewards. You can award or redeem QuaverNotes, view class or student transactions, set up behaviors and rewards, and access your classes and students.

QRewards Setup #

Teachers can tailor QRewards to their classrooms by modifying behavior and reward categories.

Desired Behaviors #

Students can earn QuaverNotes for demonstrating specific behaviors. We have added several categories and items to help get you started:

  • Character Traits: Honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility, etc.
  • Classroom Behaviors: Following class rules, helping others in class, volunteering to help the teacher, etc.
  • Life Readiness Skills: Relationship skills, responsible decision-making, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness.

Teachers can also add, edit, or remove Behavior Categories and Items in the Desired Behaviors Setup menu.

Student Rewards/Cost #

Teachers can redeem QuaverNotes for students who demonstrate specific behaviors. This action deducts QuaverNotes from the student’s balance in exchange for an item you create here. We have added several categories and items to help you get started.

Teachers can also add, edit, or remove categories and items in the Student Rewards/Cost Setup menu.

Awarding QuaverNotes #

The Award QuaverNotes windows contain options to award to entire classes or individual students.

To award QuaverNotes:

  1. Select a class from the dropdown menu.
  2. Choose one or more students.
  3. Select a behavior category (e.g., “Helping Others”).
  4. Select or enter the amount of QuaverNotes (up to 100 per award).
  5. Add a personal note for the student. (Optional)
  6. Click Save to finalize.

New Feature! #

Students will now be rewarded with Quaver Notes when they complete an assignment or win a contest! Bronze Level contest winners will win 10 QuaverNotes, Silver Level contest winners will win 20 QuaverNotes, and Gold Level contest winners will win 40 QuaverNotes. The winners will receive a notification in their Inbox, much like how they would if rewarded the QuaverNotes from their teacher, via QRewards.

Student Notification #

When awarded QuaverNotes, students with Quaver accounts will receive a notification on their student dashboard. Below is a screenshot of the message students will see.

If a student does not have a Quaver account, the teacher can provide a coupon indicating the amount of QuaverNotes awarded. These coupons can be downloaded below, printed, cut out, and filled in by the teacher.

Redeeming #

When redeeming QuaverNotes, you’ll follow a process similar to awarding them. However, instead of selecting a behavior, you’ll choose a ‘Redemption Choice’ tied to a specific QuaverNote amount. This feature can be used for extra recess or lunch with the teacher. Optionally, you can provide a reason for the redemption before clicking Save.

To redeem QuaverNotes:

  1. Select a class from the dropdown menu.
  2. Choose one student. You can view students balances to the right of their name.
  3. Choice a Redemption Item (e.g., “Line Leader”).
  4. (Optional) Add a personal note for the student.
  5. Click Save to finalize.

Reports #

Teachers can monitor awarded and redeemed QuaverNotes using the Reports.

Class Transactions #

The Class Transactions report shows all QuaverNotes awarded or redeemed within a class, along with recipients, dates, and reasons. When a transaction includes more than one recipient, click the row to view the transaction details with names.

Use the dropdown at the top to switch between classes.

Student Balances #

The Student Balances report provides a summary of each student’s QuaverNotes.

From left to right, it includes:

  • First Name and Last Name
  • Last Transaction Date – this also includes transaction reason notes, if applicable.
  • Amount – Last transaction amount.
  • Balance – Current Balance in the student’s account.
  • Awarded to Date – the total number of QuaverNotes awarded to date.

Use the dropdown at the top to switch between classes and view students in each class.

Student Transactions

Select a student to view their detailed transaction history, including rewards, redemptions, and student purchases from their accounts. The panel also shows their current QuaverNote balance.

From here, you can easily access your Classes and Students. Clicking Manage Classes takes you to your list of classes in Admin Tools, while Manage Students directs you to your complete list of student accounts in Admin Tools.

I had a student give themselves QauverNotes while I wasn’t at my computer. Is there a way to deduct money from students?

Hi Daniel, thank you for your question!

While there isn’t a way to automatically deduct QuaverNotes, you can manually subtract the points from the student’s account by:
      1. Going to “Student Reward/Cost” under QRewards Setup on the dashboard and creating a “negative points” category and item, costing the amount you wish to deduct.
      2. In the Redeem QuaverNotes section of the dashboard, you can then purchase the item, which would remove that amount of QuaverNotes from the account.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Where can I find the certificates that you had that say things like You’re Now a Beatmaster, Congratulations on Becoming a Super Singer, etc. I found them a couple years ago and then the district didn’t renew and now I’m in a different district and can use them again and can’t find them. They were sheets with 6 to a page that we could copy on cardstock and had out to the students.

Want to use them again and need to make more.

    Thank you,

Can students earn QuaverNotes without me assigning them?

      Hi Elizabeth,

Students are not able to earn QuaverNotes without a teacher assigning them. Teachers can adjust desired behaviors, and reward QuaverNotes to individuals or groups of students, though. Hope this helps!

I want to build my Avatar and Quaver room to show students the possibilities but I can’t purchase the nicer items because I don’t have Quaver notes. Is there a way for the instructor/teacher to get notes?

      Hi Lisa,

Thanks for reaching out! I believe the best way to go about this would be to create an example-only student account, and award it Quavernotes through your teacher account. You should then be able to go into the student account and redeem these awards. I hope this helps!

I used to be able to award all my students/classes Quaver notes at the same time. Now it seems I can only select one class at a time. I can’t find that feature. Am I missing something?

      Hi Lisa,

Unfortunately, you cannot reward all classes at once, but you can assign to all students within a class, or to multiple students within a class. Thanks for reaching out, and let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help!

Is there a way to stop the automatic rewards for completing an assignment? This has thrown off my rewards system as the amount is way out of scale of what my students receive, especially when I did not know it was happening.

      Hi Benson,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately there is not a way to stop the automatic assignment rewards. If you’d like to submit feedback on this, feel free to do so through our contact us page. You can also get customer support through that same page. Thanks again!
