Overview #
The Quaver Curriculum is built on a predetermined sequence of topics and lessons. You may wish to re-organize this sequence to fit your needs. In some cases, District administrators may wish to create a particular sequence for teachers in their district to follow.
From your Dashboard, click on “Custom Curriculum.” You will notice this view resembles the Quaver Curriculum.
Custom Menu #
If you are a teacher wishing to create a custom curriculum for yourself, click the Teacher tab at the top of the screen. If you are a District Administrator and wish to build a custom sequence for your district, click the District tab. We will work on the Teacher side for this example.
To begin making changes, click “Edit” at the top right of the screen.
Custom Menu Editor #
On the left hand side, you will see grade level options in which to build your custom sequence. You have the option to add additional grade levels by selecting Add Custom Grade at the bottom. These can be more than just grade levels. For instance, you could create a category called “Spring Concert” to house lessons related to your end-of-year concert.
Lesson List #
On the right-hand side, you will find the Lesson List divided into three tabs:
- Custom lessons that are created by you or shared by your district colleagues.
- Quaver lessons which are found in the Quaver curriculum.
- And Song-Based lessons which are found in our Song-Based Lessons section.
The lesson icon to the left of each title indicates the lesson type. Use the legend below the Lesson List to identify My Lessons, My Shared Lessons, District Lessons, and Supervisor Lessons.
To start, choose a grade or add a new grade or category by selecting ADD CUSTOM GRADE.
Next, add at least one Module by selecting Add Module and typing a name. Click “Ok” and you can now begin adding lessons to your module.
With a Grade and Module open, drag lessons from the Lesson List into your desired order.
To reorder lessons you have added to a module, simply click and drag the lessons to where you would like them.
Removing Lessons from Custom Menu #
To remove a lesson from a module, click and drag a lesson title from the list and you will notice a trash can icon appears. Drag the title to this icon to remove it.
To return to your Custom Menu, click “Go To Custom Menu” at the top of the screen. Here you can see the changes that were made. Simply select a lesson module, to load the lesson summary screen and launch the lesson.
To return to the Teacher Dashboard, click “Exit” at the top right.
When I open the custom window, the lessons are in a different order than how I put them in Edit mode. I’ve gone back in to edit mode and rearranged them, but it still has them in the wrong order. For example, in my 1st grade curriculum, “Welcome to Music” keeps coming up as lesson 2, when I’ve placed it as the first unit in Edit mode.
Hi Sabrina!
I’m not sure what was going on, but we were able to move the “Welcome to Music!” lessons in 1st and 2nd grade to the first lesson spot. We will look into why this was happening. Thank you!
