Resource Manager is a powerful tool for lesson planning and development. You can search, create, and share resources in QuaverHealth and PE. Building custom lessons and assignments is a significant component of the Resource Manager.
Resource Manager Overview #
Resource Manager is divided into four major sections: the Search and Sort Bar at the top, the results window in the middle, the resource folders on the right, and the Topic Index and Resource Sets on the left.
Search and Filters #
Use the center section of Resource Manager to search for specific resources by title or keyword.
Use the Grade and A-Z buttons to sort and filter your search results.
Search Tips #
When you perform a search, the search result dropdown presents a selection of content items.
Using quotations ” ____ ” around your search term will result in exact match search results.
Search results are divided up between the colored tabs at the top.
To preview search results:
- Near the bottom of the screen, select your search result’s thumbnail to preview the screen.
- Click Launch to open the resource in a new window.
Grabbing a Resource Link #
Select Menu > Get Link to generate a shareable link for your students.
Link expiration date:
If you generate a Link/QR Code on or before December 31st, it will expire on June 30th of the following year.
Topic Index and Resource Sets #
The left section can be thought of as your virtual library, ready to browse in two ways: first, as a Topic Index where you can browse the entire curriculum by topic. Second, as Resource Sets based on the Teacher Dashboard icons and the resources housed within them.
Resource Sets also includes a Custom Resources folder where you will see your custom lessons, assignments, as well as any shared materials from other teachers in your district. We will discuss how to create custom resources in later videos.
Selecting any of these will reveal a drop-down menu with sub-topics. You’ll see the middle section of the screen update to reflect the materials within each.
Resource Folders #
On the right-hand side are your Resource Folders. This is where you can bookmark and organize everything inside the curriculum. This is also where you can create custom lessons and assignments. QuaverHealth and PE comes with pre-made folders but you can add new folders at any time using the Menu button.
Let’s take a closer look at the menu button. With no folders selected, the only option you will see when clicking Menu is to create a new folder. If you select a folder, and click MENU again, you will now see several options available.
- New Lesson – creates an empty lesson that you can add screens to which can then be taught to students.
- New Assignment Template – creates an empty assignment that you can add screens to which can be then sent to students for completion.
- New Screen – navigates to the Resource Creation tools where you can create a new screen. Resources created here will automatically appear in the My Custom Screens folder.
- Rename – renames the selected item.
- Cut – cuts the selected item to be pasted in another location.
- Delete – deletes the selected item.
Creating Lessons #
The Quaver Curriculum includes ready-to-launch lessons that can be used right away. But let’s say you want to customize an existing lesson – or even create your own. Perhaps you’d like to share lessons you’ve created with other teachers. You can do all of this in Resource Manager.
Customizing Existing Lesson
Let’s start with customizing an existing lesson. First, find or search for the specific lesson that you would like to customize. Drag and drop the lesson into a folder. We’ve set up a folder just for Custom PE Lessons. Next, right-click on the lesson and select “Edit Lesson.”
Here you will see the screens inside the activity. As you get to know each lesson in the Quaver curriculum, you’ll become familiar with the screens inside them. But if at any time you’d like to view a screen, right click it and select Launch. Once here, you can also use the next and previous arrows to see the other screens inside the lesson.
Let’s say you want to add a movement video to this lesson. All you have to do is browse or search for one you know, then drag and drop that screen into the folder. You can rearrange the screens at any time by dragging them into any order you’d like
You can rename your custom lesson by clicking on the Lesson Title OR by clicking “Menu” and selecting “Rename.” You can also create new lesson activities from the Resource Creation tools by selecting “Menu” and then “New Screen.”
Build Lesson from Scratch
To build a new lesson from scratch, right click a folder and select “New Lesson” from the drop down menu. Title your lesson then right click the folder and select “Edit Lesson.” You can now drag and drop any screen you’d like into your lesson.
Customizing Lesson Plans #
Every screen in Quaver includes notes – and every lesson, built from these screens, includes the sum combination of these notes, called the Lesson Plan. As you add and remove screens to lessons, the lesson plan will update to reflect the combination of these new screens.
There is one caveat though: The top part of the lesson known as The Lesson Plan Header does not automatically change. This makes sense since this contains unique information about the overall lesson. You can however edit the lesson plan header in Resource Manager.
Customizing Lesson Headers
Once finished with customizing a lesson inside Resource Manager, click on the MENU button above the lesson and select “Edit Headers.” You can now edit each of the fields in the Lesson Plan header.
To change the grade level, click on the Grade dropdown and select a grade. Click on the title of the lesson to rename it.
You can click into each blue section to edit the content. The “purpose” field is the only field that is required for the description sections.
Click into the “Time” boxes to edit the time of the lesson. The Normal section must be filled out to save the header.
You can clear or reset the header at any time if needed. When ready, click Save.
