From your Teacher Dashboard, select the Assessment icon. This will load your classes and assessment documentation information into one easy-to-access dashboard.

Dashboard

At the top of the Assessment Monitor dashboard, you will see a purple dropdown arrow next to the name of the current class you are viewing. Click the arrow to see each of the classes or to manage your classes.

Managing Classes

To add or manage classes, click the gray Manage Classes button. From here you can add additional classes or make edits to the selected class.

When adding a new class, you will be required to give the class a name in the Class Details box. When editing a class, you will only be able to adjust the name of the selected class or archive the class.

To view previously archived classes, click the box next to “Show Archived Classes” when viewing the main list of Classes.

Managing Children

On the left-hand side of your Assessment Monitor dashboard, you will find the list of children enrolled in your selected class. To add new children to your class, edit the information for a child or view archived children, click Menu.

Managing Children

Add a Child

To add a new child, click Menu and select the first option: + Add New Child. From here, you will be able to provide identification information for each child, including First Name, Last Name, Child ID (if applicable), and check whether the child is an English Language Learner (ELL).

In this view, you will also have the ability to upload or take a picture of the child. Click the picture to update the avatar. Depending on the device capabilities, you will either be prompted to Take Picture with the device’s camera or to Upload a picture from your device. If both options are available, you can change the mode between Upload and Camera using the orange button in the bottom left corner.

Edit or Archive Children

To edit child information, select a child’s name from the list. A yellow box will appear, indicating the selected child. Click Menu and select the second option: Edit Child. Here you will see the same information as listed above with the addition of being able to archive the child if needed. Checking Archived simply hides the child from being listed in this class. He or she can be recovered at a later time.

Show Archived Children

To show archived children, click Menu and select Show Archived Children. This will pull up a list of any children who were marked as Archived while in editing mode. Return to your current class list by clicking Menu, and unchecking the Show Archived Children option.

To paginate through the entire list of children in the selected class, use the yellow arrows located at the bottom of the class list.

Assessing Child Progress

To assess an individual child’s progress, select the student name on the left-hand side of the dashboard. This will pull up that child’s individual assessment data in the center section of the screen. Along the top of the center section, you will see the child’s identification information: his or her Picture, First Name, Last Name, Child ID (if applicable), and whether or not the child is marked ELL or Archived.

Domains and Skills

Below the identification information, you will be able to view assessment data for each of the domains and skills.

The Domains dropdown menu will allow you to view each of the 10 domains. After a Domain has been selected, use the Skills dropdown menu to select the particular skill area within that domain. This will automatically adjust the Outcomes below.

After a Skill has been selected, you will be able to view the Outcomes for assessment.

Outcomes and Breakouts

Select an Outcome from the resulting list and the specific Breakouts will appear beneath it. Here you will be able to assess the child’s skill in more accurate detail.

Return to the main list of Domain Outcomes by clicking the yellow back button. Use the yellow arrow buttons below the Outcomes to paginate through Outcomes for this selected Domain.

Recording an Assessment

Use the rubric to the right of the Outcome or Breakout to record an observation of the child’s skill acquisition. Select Approaching, On Target, or Advanced by clicking a cell. Make a selection to accurately describe the child’s current ability when demonstrating the selected skill.

This will generate a timestamp beneath the Outcome or Breakout. The timestamp indicates when the child was assessed on the selected Outcome as well as the score on that assessment date, as indicated by the color-coding.

Collecting Evidence

In addition to the rubric data, you may also choose to provide additional evidence of the child’s progress. Click the gray plus sign in the Evidence column to add visual evidence (for example a video or photo) along with anecdotal notes.

Assessment History

The History dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen will allow you to view past assessments. Click on a date to view past assessment data. Click on NEW to make additional assessments on the current date.

Reporting

To view a full report of a child’s progress, click the orange Reports button. Here you will see a full view of a child’s progress across all Domain areas. The colors indicated what rubric assessment was selected on the date of assessment. The numbers on each color-coded block indicate how many Outcomes were assessed within the Domain. The percentage on the right-hand side indicates the percentage of total assessed Outcomes.

To see a more detailed report by Outcome, click the purple dropdown arrow located next to the Domain name.
